What is the difference between a User CAL and a Device CAL? A User CAL allows one user to access the server from any device. A Device CAL allows any number of users to access the server from a single device. Choose based on your environment: user-based for mobile workforces, device-based for shared workstations.

Do I need CALs for Windows Server? Yes. Every user or device that accesses a Windows Server requires a CAL (unless you buy the Essentials edition, which includes 25 user CALs). Distivo offers both User and Device CALs for all recent versions.

Can I use a Microsoft 365 subscription instead of on-premise licenses? Yes.
